Salt Lake City Police Department Homeless Outreach Service Team Program Overview

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of Salt Lake City (Utah) Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Service Team (HOST) program. The HOST team modeled its program after other successful programs elsewhere in the country—such as those run by the Colorado Springs (Colorado) Police Department and the Wichita (Kansas) Police Department—and believes that sharing program information and materials will help create a better model to end homelessness across the nation. The intended audience for this document is anyone who is interested in homeless outreach efforts and specific strategies that have been implemented to address this issue.
